A while back I was having a chat with a friend about burn out and the compulsion I felt to keep working through burn out. My friend told me that she was feeling exactly the same way - that her whole body was telling her to stop and at least sleep properly, but the stress and anxiety of everyday life was preventing her from doing this. I asked her in that moment what her body and mind was asking for. She thought for a few moments and said “I have been trying to ignore it so I can just keep going.”

And herein lies the issue. We do not listen to our bodies and minds when they tell us what we need because it gets in the way of working.
